Block Information: Workshops
Tent State Workshop
Tent State University is an international movement, started in New Jersey, USA that believes education is a right, not a privilege. We believe the US and wider western world suffers from a crisis of values and leadership, embodied in state and national spending priorities that favor war and corporate greed over social necessities such as education. We create Tent State University as a grassroots, democratic, alternative institution of learning to challenge the undemocratic decision-making process that dominates our universities and our society. In building Tent State, we provide a space where students, faculty, staff, and community members come together to practice democracy both as a means and as a goal in itself.
Workshop giving a brief history of the Tent State movement, challenging participants to become involved in the struggle for free, quality public higher education for all and giving practical ideas for expansion of the movement in the UK.

Write-A-Pop-Song Workshop
You will face a giant pile of instruments and a blank sheet of paper. Fill it with silly, sacred, death-defying words and lo! the most perfectly crafted pop maladies shall pour out of you. We will be recording all efforts and showcasing them on Tuesday evening in the Avant-Pop block. Bring any instruments you can carry, some lyrics if you've got them and your collaborative hat.
[Non]musicians, magicians, minstrels, organ-grinders welcome.
Hosted my Monkey Grinder Organ
Animation Workshop
There will be assorted toys, plasticines, cheap colouring pens and probably excrement. There will be cameras, editing, and lots of screens. We will write tiny binary letters of love to our friends, enemies, favourite school teachers and hated public figures. We will tell stories in basic stop-motion, each wee frame a pleasure and a struggle. To finish we shall sceen them all and wet our pants at our own genius. Bring miniscule narratives and your favourite toys.
